WATTENMEER
A good friend of mine, Jan, just passed the 100h threshold as a PIC (Pilot in Command). This was meant to be celebrated! We originally planned to visit the North Frisian island of Borkum. A one hour direct flight from Hildesheim (EDVM). But things came different: The plane, a beautiful Cirrus SR20, had an overnight stay at the international Airport of Hannover (EDDV) because someone performed some NVFR (Night Visual Flight Rules) flights the prior night. We quickly threw the initial plan overboard and got up at 5 AM in the morning to be airborne just before sunset (7:05 AM) and follow the Autobahn A7 towards Hamburg to do some scenic flying above the city and the Elbphilharmonie. That was the first reason to wake up that early. The other one was the low tide, offering stunning views of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Wattenmeer from above. I always dreamed of seeing this natural wonder from above. Why? See yourself!
